Celebrating Our Volunteers: Vocal Point Hosts Annual Luncheon

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Georgia Radio Reading Service, Inc.—now known as Vocal Point—welcomed volunteers past and present to its annual in-person Volunteer Luncheon, an afternoon dedicated to recognition, reconnection, and renewed purpose.

The luncheon, held in honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, was a heartfelt celebration of the people who have long served as the voice behind Vocal Point’s mission—narrators, editors, tech volunteers, and community ambassadors who give their time and talent to bring accessible audio to Georgians with print-related disabilities.

“This event was about more than a meal—it was about honoring the heartbeat of our service,” said Miracle Fleming, Media and Outreach Coordinator at Vocal Point. “Each volunteer plays a critical role in building connection, community, and independence for the people we serve.”

For many attendees, this was the first time gathering in person in several years. The room buzzed with conversations between longtime narrators and first-time volunteers, all united by a shared passion for service and storytelling.

Through warm speeches, heartfelt stories, and moments of laughter, the luncheon highlighted the intergenerational strength of the Vocal Point volunteer community—from seasoned veterans with decades of service to enthusiastic newcomers eager to make a difference.

As Vocal Point continues its transformation—marked by a refreshed brand, a new website, and expanded outreach—the organization remains grounded in the core values that shape its daily work. Inclusivity, accessibility, respect, and empowerment are more than ideals; they’re embodied in the dedication and diversity of its volunteer base.

“This luncheon was so heartwarming- as always. It still amazes me how many volunteers have been with us for several decades,” said Eric Singer, Production Manager at Vocal Point

Vocal Point plans to build on the momentum of this event by launching quarterly volunteer meetups, offering new training opportunities, and expanding youth and community outreach initiatives to cultivate the next generation of volunteer voices.
